“Film has had a profound impact on my own life, which is why I’ve dedicated the last ten years to sharing stories. It’s been a privilege to work in the Talent Relations & Awards space, and in the process, learn first-hand what a powerful healing tool film can truly be.

In this next chapter, I want to use my experience and the relationships I’ve built to tell more stories that will inspire change and build community—and the
first story I plan to tell is my own.”

- Kelly Dalton, Founder

This is a piece of my story
I haven’t shared — until now.

Fourteen years ago, I became a survivor
of sexual assault.

My story is unique,
but it’s not uncommon.

One in three women worldwide
experience sexual violence.

As many survivors know, the long-term invisible process of rebuilding your life
after assault is difficult and often heartbreaking.

I wasn’t interested in pursuing legal action,
but I also wasn’t okay with staying silent.
Then I discovered another path:

RESTORATIVE JUSTICE.

Restorative justice helps to repair harm while
considering the humanity of everyone involved.
It allows a space for healing.

Through this process, I sat face-to-face
with the person who hurt me.

The first thing I said was, “I forgive you,”
and the last thing he said to me was,
"I'm sorry I raped you."
When I left that room, I stepped into my future.

I felt like I had reached the top of the mountain of shame
that I’d been climbing for years.
In the higher altitude,
I could finally breathe again.
After a decade in the film industry,I founded Higher Altitude Productions to share real, honest stories that connect with people, inspire change and build community.
